Popocatépetl, Mexico
Glaciers cover the peak of this powerful force of nature. The danger level heightens knowing that the surrounding communities are populated by about 9 million citizens. They are all within the danger zone of the volcano. Records show that it has stayed active since 1519 by erupting about 20 times. The local government showed a lot of preparedness when it successfully evacuated about 40,000 civilians when it last exploded in 2000.
