The Matterhorn (Border between Italy and Switzerland)
The peak of Matterhorn juts straight up from a base made from a series of valleys that comprise a huge part of the famed Alps. The statistic that has climbers concerned is that its death rate is among the highest within this mountain range. Some of the contributing factors are rock fall, periodical avalanche occurrence, complex methods of trekking, and the voluminous number of climbers walking side by side during peak periods.
