Cali in Colombia, once had a world wide reputation due to its drug problem. It is the capital of the Valle del Cauca department. It is the third largest city in terms of population, and the third largest in terms of land area. Although the crime situation has improved since the 1990s, it still has a high crime incidence rate due to the large percentage of poverty in the city. It had 65.25 homicides per 100,000 residents.
