Salvador is the capital of the Brazilian state of Bahia. It is also called Sao Salvador, Salvador de Bahia,and Salvador da Bahia. It has54.31 homicides per 100,000 residents. It is the largest city proper in Brazil’s Northeast Region, as well as the 3rd largest in the country. It is a major port and is the gateway to a rich agricultural and industrial maritime district. It is also one of the wealthiest cities in the Region.
